Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was officially announced on April 9th, 2026 and speculated to release early to mid-2027, 11 years after its prequel. Over that time, the Dragon Ball anime and manga have added new source material that can be implemented into the game, but what can be expected from Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3?
From the first teaser trailer, it is expected that they will add a new way to mimic other fighting styles, similar to Street Fighter 6’s custom character creation. In the teaser trailer, the character selects a menu option and then assumes a pose similar to Goku’s fighting stance. This opens up new possibilities for combat and character creation or diversity, something fans have been waiting for since Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
Based on the official announcement trailer, another thing that will likely be added is a new main home map, possibly a new city, or a revamped Conton city with new places to explore, along with a reworked interface that characters use in order to change outfits.
Another major change is the ending of the time patrol storyline from the last two games. Based on the trailer, a new storyline is going to unfold with Ganma one being a supporting character, largely due to the fact that none of the previous characters from the last two games make an appearance; however, there is still a chance they will appear as guest characters for some missions, but they won’t be the main characters in this game.
Another change that will be made is transformations for the Namekians and Humans. For humans, a Beast Gohan transformation is likely to be added, which is a way to get Piccolo’s orange from. Finally, all the races are getting access to Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego, something fans have been begging for since its reveal in 2018 and 2021. Many believe that they’re adding new races, with maybe Android or a demon race as a throwback to the main villains from the last game.
Overall, from the teaser and announcement trailer, the game seems like it’s going to be worth the 11-year wait, with new material from the anime and manga being adapted to the game, showing that the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series is a genuine passion project, adding new things die-hard fans have been waiting for. This is a game to be hyped for and will be worth checking out for any gamer.
