On Thursday, May 1, students gathered for the spring rally, marking it the final rally of the school year. The rally brought in new dances for students to watch along with the S.O.C.K.S. final competition.
Even with these brand new events, some students felt as though the rally was missing the energy that previous rallies had, with complaints about how some of the performances were structured.
“I don’t like how the dancers never faced a lower-class [area] … and the band didn’t get any recognition. It was a little bit slow paced at points,” freshman Luca Chung said.
Another complaint with this year’s rally was the energy and how many of the performances there were not compared to other performances in previous rallies, which could’ve been contributed to the upcoming prom.
“I think that this rally definitely had less energy than the other rallies this year, and I think there weren’t as many performances, and some of the performances were a little slow,” sophomore Oceane Lacasse said.
Sophomore Tesni Luna agreed with Lacasse, stating that the rally didn’t seem as exciting or thrilling as previous rallies.
“It was a little bit low energy. Even the dance performances were kind of low energy compared to how they usually are,” sophomore Tesni Luna said.
Sophomore ASB member Emily Sieh also mentions that the anticipation of the rally could have contributed to people’s disappointment when it did not meet their expectations.
“I think it has good potential. I think that it just needs to be higher in energy. I do agree, the sound system could have contributed to that. I think that probably the most likely hype rally was the fall rally for homecoming,” Sieh said.
